Just now I'm making a journal for a good friend of mine,

Here is one of them, and I used:
Tag die: Spellbinders, cut out of a hamburger box.
To hide the text on the tag, I covered it with coffee dyed paper.

The light spaces behind the roses are less white than they seem to be on the picture. I used brown distress ink to make them more natural.
The sentiment in Norwegian says: "Thankful for you".

I love the contrast between the coffee dyed paper and the beautiful roses Liv, so pretty. The colours are all lovely and warm. I'm sure your friend is going to love the journal you create for her.
